Updating a recipe you already imported

Updated 2026-09-02

If you run Web Import on a page that's already in your library, ReciLore shows "Already imported" and offers to Update it.

What Update keeps and replaces

  • Kept: whether the recipe is Pinned, who Loves it, the Tried mark, your tags, and the date it was added.
  • Replaced: the recipe's title, ingredients, steps, photo, and details — with a fresh read of the page.

So use Update when the source recipe changed, or when the first import came in badly and the site has since improved. Manual edits you made to the recipe are overwritten, since Update re-reads the page from scratch.

If you only need to fix a few things, edit the recipe instead — see Fixing a recipe that imported wrong.

Questions this answers

  • What happens if I import the same recipe twice?
  • What does the "Already imported" prompt do?
  • Will re-importing lose my tags or notes?
