Writing your own recipe
Updated 2026-09-02
On the Recipes tab, tap + → Write My Own.
Quick vs Structured entry
- Quick — type ingredients and steps as free text, one per line. Fastest for getting a family recipe in.
- Structured — fill in fields (ingredient quantity / unit / name, individual steps, servings, times). More setup, tidier result.
You can switch between them, and you can always refine later — see Editing a recipe.
Adding a photo
Save the recipe first. You'll see "Save your recipe first, then you can add a photo." until it exists — then open it and add a photo from the editor. See Recipe photos.
It counts toward your library
A recipe you write yourself counts the same as an imported one against the Free 10-recipe limit.
